About the Club

10 August 1973 The Club was founded with John Loveridge, Rohan Westmore, Peter Fountain, Ian Gliddon, John & Frank Fryirs, John Turner, Noel Smith, Fred Sharpe, Ted Summers and Max Sproule in attendance. This was the first Morris Register outside of England.

Correspondence to the Bullnose Morris Club and UK Morris Register seeking affiliation began in 1970 between several men interested in Morris vehicles. Our first Club meeting was held in August 1973 with eleven members present to form the Morris Register Club of Australia (NSW branch). A committee was elected and began to organise the Club's activities. The first event was held in February 1974 and was attended by five members with two Morrises and a Wolseley. Newsletters were prepared and sent to members every two months.

At the same time, Victoria was forming a Club, discussions between the two States took place re: the name of the Register and subsequently, it was changed to Morris Register of NSW, later to be incorporated (Inc.). The first National Rally was held at Swan Hill in 1978, when Jack Nixon, Ian Gliddon and John Fryirs were among those attending. These three men are still members today and are Life members. Bob Freeland has been granted Life membership for his services to the Club. Jack Nixon has also been granted this honour.

The Club meets once a month from February to December with members attending at least one Club outing a month. We also accept invitations to static displays eg: Motorfest, Shannons Eastern Creek Classic and All British Display Day as well as other Club's events. From a small beginning, we now have a membership of 120 including country members. Approximately 50 of these are active members.

This club, it's members, the cars and the friendships made, would not have been possible but for one man's ambition and desire to produce a motor vehicle to serve the people: William Richard Morris, Lord Nuffield.

Club meetings are held first Friday of the month, 8 pm, February to December at:

NRMA Motor & Service Building
9 George Street,
North Strathfield

Guests of members and visitors are especially welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
